Karla Montague-Brown, M.D. is a health and wellness lifestyle transformational coach and speaker for women with chronic illnesses such as autoimmune disorders. Her mission is to encourage, empower, and equip women to take control of their health and create lives of joy, abundance, and holistic wellness.
From 1990 through 2009 she enjoyed providing traditional primary care medical services for a variety of patients as a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician. Currently, she serves as a medical consultant for the State of Tennessee-Disability Determination Services.
In 2012, after many years of speaking engagements and workshop presentations, she started developing a curriculum to teach women how to implement practical lifestyle strategies for holistic wellness and natural healing. In 2015, Dr. Karla launched her CROWN TO SOLE Wellness business as a transformational speaker and wellness coach.
Fast forward to 2019 and Dr. Karla, after years of striving to practice good health habits to prevent developing illness such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease, was diagnosed with two autoimmune disorders: Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disorder and Inflammatory Arthritis. Determined to avoid treatment with medications as much as possible, she sought to maximize the principles that she already was practicing and teaching for natural healing. In one year she was able to reverse the devastating effects of her diagnoses and has largely remained medication free.
Her experience with autoimmune disorders and ability to recover naturally has given her a greater compassion for those struggling with similar situations. She is committed to helping other women take control of their health to bounce back and enjoy lives of joy, abundance, and wellness of mind, body, and spirit.
Dr. Karla is the author of CROWN TO SOLE Wellness Action Guide and OVERCOMING AUTOIMMUNITY: One Physician’s Step By Step Journey To Victory Over Her Chronic Illnesses. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Oakwood University, a Doctorate of Medicine degree from Meharry Medical College, and has taught at Austin Peay State University as an adjunct professor.
Drawing on over 30 years of experience in health and wellness education and medical practice, Dr. Karla has been honored to speak for various health and wellness seminars, workshops, hospital support groups, women’s empowerment events and retreats, health fairs, and churches. She has been featured in several media outlets, including The Leaf Chronicle Newspaper, Southern Tidings Magazine, Talk of The Town television show and Focus On Natural Health Education television show.
Besides empowering women to take control of their health, Dr. Karla enjoys spending time with her husband, Terrence, and the couple’s two young adult sons, Justin and Jordan. She also enjoys reading, singing, visiting new places, and fellowshipping with extended family and friends.
Her personal mantra comes from Psalm 34:1, “I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
